Three dancers from the Middle East, each with their own unique background and perspective, explore the themes of freedom and hope in both personal and national contexts.

The evening begins with a dance performance and continues with a picnic, accompanied by live music and traditional Middle Eastern food freshly prepared by the dancers. The audience is invited to dance DABKE, a Middle Eastern folklore dance, together and experience positive energy through breathing exercises.

For „The Freedom Picnick“, the theatre hall is transformed into an experimental social dance arena, breaking with the traditional stage-and-audience model. Nir de Volff, Medhat Adaabal and Mouafak Aldoabl facilitate an open dialogue and listening space, fostering empathy and sensitivity.

As part of The Freedom Picnic, we and the artistic team are asking for donations for the suffering children in Gaza. The proceeds will be forwarded directly to this Unicef campaign.

„Während wir frei atmen, lachen und unser Essen genießen, leben andere Kinder in einer ganz anderen Realität in Angst, hungrig und auf der Flucht. Heute, während du isst und lachst, denke an sie. Schenke eine Mahlzeit. Sende ein Lächeln. Teile Mitgefühl. Deine kleine Geste kann große Hoffnung bringen.“
Mouafak Aldoabl

„Children should live in hope, the little I can do as an artist, is too detach my self from the currant evil politic and show the children that someone, somewhere, is not only thinking about them, but doing something to give them hope!“
Nir de Volff
