New Rear

a Solo by Mor Demer

New Rear

“like a slice in the air through which I enter another realm.”

NEW REAR, a solo dance piece, invokes unforeseen relations of perception, and investigates expectation and notions of progress. An alternative state of being that re-imagines what has not yet become; the body turns into a porous-empty-wild vessel that dwells within a raw and sensuous geography, poetically facing the unknown. The performance articulates the processual nature of things. It transforms dance into an alphabet beyond recognition. A prophecy, a conundrum between the NEW (novelty) and the REAR (habit/past). NEW REAR writes present. And then it erases its steps. It is bridge and riddle.
