Tony Rizzi

Tony Rizzi was born in West Newton, USA and studied at the Boston Ballet School before joining the Ballett Frankfurt in 1985. Rizzi worked as an assistant to William Forsythe, danced with his company for 19 years and performed numerous leading roles. As a photographer and cameraman, he also documented the work of Ballett Frankfurt on and off stage and built up a valuable archive of this company. For the past 20 years, Rizzi has also worked regularly with Belgian choreographer Jan Fabre. For his own company, Tony Rizzi and the Bad Habits, he developed numerous productions in collaboration with Künstler*innenhaus Mousonturm. In addition, as a choreographer, he regularly develops pieces for renowned companies such as the Bavarian State Ballet and the Royal Ballet of London. Last year saw him here at DOCK 11 / DOCK ART in his work „Even crazy people want to be invited to the party“. Rizzi is presently working on his memoirs titled “Love the Dance. Hate the dance world”.
