Tanja Saban

Tanja Saban is a dancer, choreographer, certified Gaga teacher and somatic movement coach
Born in 1984 in Switzerland, she grew up close to nature and the alps. She began her dance studies at the Theater Dance School ST.Gallen, studying classical ballet. At the age of 16 she began her professional training under the tutelage of Nathanja Huber in Zurich and graduated from SEAD contemporary dance training program in Salzburg, Austria, in 2007. She is a recipient of the conveyor scholarship from the Tanzquartier in Vienna, where she began her career as a freelance dancer, teacher and creator.
She collaborates with dancers and artists of other disciplines in the fields of sound art, fashion/costume design and digital art on projects as a performer and creator. Her work has been presented in Austria,Germany, Spain,Switzerland, Israel and New York City.

She is a founding member of d’frac, a platform for co-creative, immersive dance experiences that oscillate between clubculture, performance and embodied practices based in Berlin, Germany.The sessions are designed as a listening space, bringing together professional dancers,amateurs and Djs to improvise in special architectural spaces.
She is part of DOCK11 Digital Lab in Berlin where she collaborates as a dancer and choreographer on developing new performance and workshop formats on the intersection of art and technology. Most recently she presented a digital artwork, a live performance and an immersive performance installation in collaboration with digital artist Herwig Scherabon, spatial sound artist Javier Rojas and visual artist Eva Balayan.

As a teacher of the Gaga movement language, created by Ohad Naharin as well as her own work she has been invited by the University of Arts in Zurich in the bachelor/masters program for dance as well as the acting and directing department, Dance company Bern, DART dance company berlin, Staatsballett Berlin,Tanzhaus zurich, Kampnagel Hamburg among others. She regularly teaches classes and workshops for amateurs in Germany,Switzerland,Austria and Israel. She is coaching people in somatic movement practices, facilitating a learning process that is a creative process fostering agency for personal development.
