the third space is a hybrid intersection of perceptive thresholds between self, world and cosmos. spatialized sonic journeys draw us deeper into the sublime nature of space that we inhabit with our multisensory, dancing bodies.

movement is our primary sense, weaving together the different streams of sensory stimuli in our field of perception. Sonic somatics is a physical deep listening practice, exploring sensation, affect and feeling in relation to sound, spatial perception and kinaesthesia. We open up the sensory/instinctive body in a movement practice that explores various modes of attention. While fine tuning and differentiating awareness in different layers of perception-physical,sensory,emotional, mental, we are taken into the stream of creative imagination, traverse boundaries of spatial perception and move inside ever expanding sonic landscapes.

the lab is a place of collaborative composition between dancers and sound artists, leveraging the possibilities of a multichannel sound system to investigate aesthetics arising from sonic somatic embodiment. The psychosonic exploration becomes world making in the act of dancing as physical radical imagination, continuously cycling through sensation, affect, feeling and emotion. We hold the third space as it holds us in the process of emotional alchemy and transformation, coding future realities through our bodies.

We aim to create spatial sound and dance practices that can be enacted in various spaces to explore the emotional transformational power held in the relationship of body, sound and space.

Justin is the musical project of sound and media artist Johanna Schütt, who works around the margins of text, sound and experimental dramaturgies, with current research examining relations of space, sound and body. For the first collaborative public session, Justin prepares a hybrid spatialized dj-set with slow, lush and deep content as a sonic space for somatic exploration.
