PULSE — Workshop Double Bill (2h + 45’ break + 2h)

A deep dive into the two practices behind PULSE — a contemporary dance / contemporary flamenco duet performed for three evenings right after the workshop (03–05 April, Dock ART Theatre). Two languages, one meeting point: rhythm, breath, weight, pleasure.

When: 02 April | 11:00–13:00 & 13:45–15:45
Where: DOCK ART Theatre at Dock11, Kastanienallee 79, Berlin
Structure: 2h Sita Ostheimer · 45’ break · 2h Álvaro Murillo

2h — COMPLEX SIMPLICITY (Sita Ostheimer)

Complex Simplicity is Sita Ostheimer’s signature approach: a powerful meeting of instinctual movement and technical clarity. We work with advanced improvisation practices to release tension, break unconscious patterns, and connect to weight and groundedness, building a more efficient, attentive, and emotionally present dancing body. From there we move into choreography, exploring how to keep individuality alive inside set material, with complex rhythms, textures, and dynamic challenges.

45 min break

2h — THE CONTEMPORARY SIDE OF FLAMENCO (Álvaro Murillo)

In this workshop we explore movement through a dialogue between contemporary language and flamenco. We start from organic movement guided by flamenco rhythm and emotion — then reverse the approach: beginning with flamenco movement and concepts and transforming them into a contemporary way of moving and composing. The work is based on creative technique and structured improvisation to develop personal composition: dynamics, manipulation, motor problem-solving, symbolism, interaction, contact, creation, and reflection.

Highly physical. Held in English.
For professional and pre-professional dancers.
