Hypnotized by the genderqueer power of the ass and conjuring different versions of his drag king persona through the perreo (“dogging“) dance style, the performer sheds layers and oscillates between pleasure, distortion, and transformation. Reggaetón is examined as a cultural force, tracing its origins while interrogating the white supremacist power structures that have influenced its recent development on the market, and opens a larger outlook on questioning our way of consuming marginalized cultures and othered bodies.
The choreographic work is accompanied and haunted by the poems of Chicano author Gloria Anzaldúa and her concept of “almas entre dos mundos” – shapeshifting souls navigating between multiple worlds in terms of gender, race and identity. By embracing fluidity, hybridity, contradiction and self-reflection of positionality through the body, this work invites the audience to engage with the complexities of gazes, entitlement, and privilege.

There will be a few moments of intense bass music.
If possible, the room should be completely dark.

Auro Orso is a Berlin-based dancer, choreographer and performer who identifies as Trans and Two-Spirit. A graduate of HZT Berlin, they have presented work at HAU, Sophiensæle and Ballhaus Naunynstraße, and internationally at Crazinist Artist Studio in Ghana, Festival Afro-Prieto-Centrado in Mexico and ImPulsTanz in Austria. Most recently, they performed at the Venice Biennale in Verena Melgarejo Weinandt’s Weaving Connections.
Rooted in their lived experience as a racialized person, political activism and engagement with Indigenous knowledge, Auro’s practice explores decolonial approaches to everyday life, questioning Western and colonial ideas of universality, binaries and propriety. Through performance, workshops and community-based projects, they foster care, healing and collective imagination within Queer and BIPoC communities. Their research draws on somatics, perreo, consent and physical theatre, engaging themes of care, Indigenous futurism and imaginative gender riots. Their solo PERREO ENTRE LOS MUNDOS premiered at Tanztage Berlin in 2025.

The Emerging Change Dance Festival celebrates the work of queer, trans, Black, Indigenous and BIPoC dance artists (QTBIPoC) and creates an inclusive space in Berlin for movement, transformation and shared celebration.
Under the artistic direction of Nara Virgens and Makisig Akin, the festival explores the tension between Survival & Pleasure. It examines how we survive and care for one another whilst simultaneously creating spaces for joy, pleasure, desire and shared experiences. A diverse programme of performances, workshops, residencies, community dialogues and celebrations brings together renowned international artists with emerging talents from Berlin.
Emerging Change sees dance as a place of encounter, resistance, joy and change. Survival & Pleasure thus become physical and collective practices: about persevering and carrying on, but also about celebrating, enjoying, desiring and being together. The festival invites you to come together, exchange ideas, forge new connections and celebrate spaces together.
