Hecatomb I: »Isolation – Movements and Rituals to Renew the World«

Amidst the unfolding climate catastrophe and the sixth mass extinction, »Isolation – Movements and Rituals to Renew the World« offers deep first-hand insights into indigenous understanding of the world from Colombian choreographer Martha Hincapié Charry, a BIPoC artist, from the Quimbaya tradition, based Berlin.
The solo performance opens an intimate space of reflection on pre-Columbian cultures and values with this first part of her trilogy »Hecatomb«. Together with representatives of the Kogi, Arhuaco and Wiwa, and in a ritual setting based on the knowledge of her ancestors, she asks the participants about their rapport to the planet: It is about the connection between one’s understanding of nature and one’s understanding of the body. The participants are approached with the mirror of the current crisis in our relationship with our own nature.
»Isolation – Movements and Rituals to Renew the World« offers an experience by confronting the question: how can a look into the past convey a non-anthropocentric relationship to nature? Martha reflects about these inquiry in a personal way.

The event is limited to 6 participants.
