BLACK RESISTANCE PRACTICE 1
Colleen Ndemeh Fitzgerald

This is an exploration of Black resistance practices across time and territories.

Colleen Ndemeh Fitzgerald, Naledi Majola and Sointu Pere invite the audience to enter an improvised landscape drawing on diverse stories from Africa and the diaspora about the myriad ways of resisting oppression. These forms of resistance, from spontaneous armed rebellions to organised military battles and generations-long struggles to preserve identity and dignity, provide important inspiration today if we are willing to listen.

This project was developed as part of the „New Techniques“ residency programme at sophiensælen. Using methods of Afro-diasporic exchange and improvisation, the artists developed a collective practice to create a group that performs, moves, builds and resists together.

Josefina Cerda

This vocal performance explores the processes of sexualisation, objectification and the empowerment of personal pleasure. Through her personal narrative, the performer shares her journey from a hypersexualised childhood to adulthood, exploring ways to find pleasure through dominance, sex work and BDSM.
In this intimate performance, live sound is interwoven with sex technologies to create a narrative in which FERAL becomes a defence of the object against the human.
