Jonathan Nagel

Jonathan Nagel's artistic work is driven by the desire to convey emotions and describe situations. He continually seeks to transcend genre boundaries, focusing solely on what is necessary to create a particular feeling or image. His work encompasses music, poetry, improvisation, acting, performance art and dance.

Trained as a jazz double bassist at the Berlin University of the Arts, Rytmisk Music Conservatory Copenhagen (DK), University of the Arts Philadelphia (USA), and Prins Claus Conservatory Groningen (NL), he has questioned art and its mediation for years. In 2018, he completed the international European Jazz Master's program at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam (NL), M.Mus.

He has collaborated with countless internationally renowned artists including Katie Duck, Sharon Smith, Michael Moore, Axel Dörner, Tristan Honsinger, Simon Rose, Vincent von Schlippenbach, Richard Scott and many more. As an artist and composer he has performed in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Greece and the USA.

eventually is his debut for an own stage production. It has been performed at the Maarten Luther Kerk Amsterdam (NL), Oude Kerk Charlois Rotterdam (NL), Åbo Svenska Teater Turku (FI), PanJál Scenstudio Gothenburg (SE) and Cyklopen Stockholm (SE), among others. The music album of the same name was released on vinyl and digitally by the Amsterdam label Xilent Records.
