Die Wende. Growing up between regular people.

Die Wende. Growing up between regular people.

"At the Baltic Sea there are no tides. The wave, that came `89/90, swept many off their feet."

Suddenly one realizes, that nothing as it was, irreversible and out of ones own control. A flood of emotions, that hits you like a giant wave.
Lukas Steltner was born in 1987 in the GDR and as a little child he wasn’t aware of the time of the turnaround (Die Wende) that took place two years later. But, by growing up in Rostock in an estate of prefabricated houses he very much experienced it’s impact.

How do you find your way in a new reality, when the world as you knew has turned upside down; and when the feeling it evokes seem to be as worthless just as the vanished GDR?

With a mix of Breaking (Breakdance), influences of contemporary dance, live-projections, soundscapes, texts of eye-witnesses as well as fragments of his own memory, Lukas Steltner is dealing with the place of his childhood and youth.
