TodAncestor – dust till down

“Tradition becomes our security, and when the mind is secure it is in decay.” Jiddu Krishnamurti
TodAncestor is an intermedia installation performance ritual for vier and its homonym relatives fear, poetry 詩 and death 死. A meditative ritual that deals with one’s own death, that inevitably will come as part of the natural cycle of life.
Supported by four collaborators, the solo performance will move within a quadratic system: back and forth, between outside and inside, this world and that world, here and there. A performative ceremony, similar to a Buddhist meditation, where different phases of death and rebirth are being imagined – opening up a healing space for hidden fears and darkness.
What will appear at the end of the ritual that dismantles the concept of life and death by separating the four limbs, the body as an object, and the soul as subject into pieces?
Count to four and move on to the next phase.
