Once this point has been reached, there is no going back; only the possibility of change, whether self-determined or driven by external influences. But what marks the beginning of this transformative moment, and when does it end? This performative exploration is about letting go of one’s old self and mourning a future life that will never be the same again.
As a powerful language of movement and resistance, Waacking thematically aligns with the dancers’ exploration of the 'before' and 'after' of the point of no return. This aesthetically precise and captivating Waacking performance treads the fine line between doing justice to marginalised club culture and transforming it for the future in new spaces.
