One of Kirenia Martínez's most acclaimed pieces, this dynamic solo showcases her versatility and outstanding artistic ability as a performer. With over 25 years of professional experience in contemporary dance, she reprogrammes her body to respond to the unique environmental and temporal conditions of each performance space and moment. Rooted in universal themes of aging, risk, honesty and a deep commitment to creative expression, „Gradual Instant“ captivates audiences with its powerful blend of movement and emotion.
The performance premiered at the opening of the Galician Cultural Awards 2021 and has since toured worldwide.

The solo is a fragmented piece with sharp edges. It is a springboard that deconstructs inherited beliefs and the acceptance of what defines us.
Against the backdrop of one of the world's largest open-air spectacles, the carnival, the piece presents a body divided and entangled in contradictions, moving between physical memory and memory archives, and between traditional and transatlantic tensions.

Kirenia Martínez Acosta ist Tänzerin, Choreografin, Schauspielerin und Kuratorin, geboren in Kuba, liebt sie aktuell in Spanien. Sie begann mit 13 Jahren mit ihrer Tanzausbildung, studierte 1997-2000 Schauspiel an der Nationalen Kunsthochschule Havanna. Als zeitgenössische Tänzerin ersten Ranges tourte sie bei der renommierten Compagnie Danza Teatro Retazos international. Sie ist Mitbegründerin der Kompanie Entremáns und arbeitet mit dem Choreografischen Zentrum Galicien zusammen. Kollaboration mit zahlreichen Projekten, Kompanien und Festivals, stets geleitet von einer interdisziplinären und sozial engagierten künstlerischen Vision. Seit 2019 Direktorin von Kirenia Danza, einem Ensemble, das Tanz mit gesprochenem Wort, bildender Kunst und poetischen Untersuchungen verbindet. Seit 2023 außerdem künstlerische Leiterin von Escenas do Cambio, einem führenden Festival für darstellende Künste in Galicien, das sich auf zeitgenössische und experimentelle Praktiken konzentriert. In ihrer kuratorischen Arbeit legt sie den Schwerpunkt auf Inklusion, Erinnerung und den Körper als Ort des Widerstands und der Transformation.

Reinaldo Ribeiro was born in Brazil and now lives in Tenerife and Barcelona.
In his work, he moves between choreography, the performing arts, and cosmic twerking as a decolonial manifesto for the dance floor. The four Ps are at the centre of his work: an obsessive excavation of the political, poetic, personal and pathetic. Power structures crumble amidst sweat, rhythm and irony.
