Megumi Eda

fish άɪ lens

In this multidisciplinary and autobiographical dance performance, Megumi Eda reflects with heart and humour on her life so far. The piece is divided into six chapters, each dedicated to the most important places she has lived. Beginning in Nagano, Japan, the stations are lined up like a map, including Hamburg, Amsterdam, London, New York and Berlin.

At the age of 16, Megumi leaves Japan to pursue her dream of becoming a ballet dancer. The beginning of her journey is peppered with cultural mistakes, linguistic misunderstandings and a great deal of self-discovery. As if through an object that both distorts and reflects, unexpected truths come to light in „fish άɪ lens“.

At her side is Shintaro Oue, a childhood friend whom she has not seen for many years. Together they explore the places and moments that have shaped Megumi's artistic work. Past and present merge into a vivid, transformative narrative experience.
