bill #1 Scarbo

In Scarbo, the dancer Manon Parent unveils the deep aspects of her personality to the audience. The sharing of intimacy is the core of Scarbo: Letting ourselves be seen in all our states – whether emotional or physical – in an almost immediate way, without filter or judgment is a freedom rarely taken. All of the performer's cells seem to vibrate in various emotional frequencies that move her. Although it remains unclear whether these are real or fictitious states, memories of the past, a personal history is unveiled, because even without telling a story Manon’s dance communicates with all. Scarbo thus questions the place of narration in contemporary dance, its usefulness, its form, its integration, offering a unique version that is both abstract and concrete.
The solo is accompanied in part by works by Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy, which reinforces the performance's sometimes cinematographic character. The rhythmic dialogue of colors and textures unfolding between music and dance creates a continuity that feels completely natural and takes viewers into what could be a live version of an art film.
