INTER_SECTION with Maria Colusi

INTER_SECTION was founded in 2019 by Claudia Schmitz and Sabine Ercklentz and is based and focusses its work in Berlin. Funded and supported by Goethe Institute Munich, Goethe Institute Portugal, Fonds Darstellende Künste, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media within the framework of NEUSTART KULTUR, Musikfonds, Amt für Weiterbildung und Kultur des Bezirksamtes Pankow, Berlin, Fachbereich Kunst und Kultur INM Initiative Neue Musik Berlin e.V., part of the PAF Performing Arts Festival Berlin.

Sabine Ercklentz lives and works as a composer, musician and performer in Berlin. She works both live electronically and with fixed media, often in collaboration with other artists and in transdisciplinary projects. The choice of format is context-dependent and diverse; she creates concerts, audiovisual works, performances, installations and audio pieces. She is part of the composer/performer ensemble N.E.W. and the trio Contagious, among others. sabineercklentz.com

As a time-based media artist, Claudia Schmitz examines paradigms of media translation in a transmedia context, as a solo artist and in collaborative projects. She deals with synaesthesia, identity, real and virtual spaces (VR/AR), interactivity and reactivity, intermediality, socio-urban structures and questions hegemonic perception and sustainability. She uses pneumatic sculpture, multidimensional drawing, moving image, unfolded screen, sound and food to make new forms of space, sound and experience accessible.
By assuming temporary states, discarding and reinventing herself, her work thematises the phenomenon of liquid boundaries, oscillating changes of perspective and the privileges associated with them, while exploring the radius of media arrangements and possibilities of participation.
Thanks to the Goethe-Institut and many other funding institutions, her works have already been realised and exhibited in more than 20 countries. She is internationally recognised with her works in public and private collections. cces-claudiaschmitz.de
