AR-Loop Machine education

Nico and the Navigators realised artistic projects with AR glasses (Magic-Leap) and DOCKdigital with Rokoko Motion Capture Suits. Together they realised the following project.

AR glasses and motion capture suits are connected to form an AR loop machine in which dancers can develop a pas de deux with a sculpture they have previously created themselves and then moved. The spectator sees the dancer in the glasses and the animation that results from the previously created and recorded movements. The MC suits can be perfectly combined with the Magic Leap glasses.

For the programming of the software and the development of the piece "Du musst Dein Leben Rendern" project, funding was applied for from the Federal Cultural Foundation. The piece was presented at DOCK 11 by DOCKdigital as part of the festival "HUMANDROID Space for physical and immersive Experiences".

In addition, investments were made in high-performance and needs-oriented technical equipment for a "RenderingFarm", including technical support, in order to facilitate the content production of 3D formats by artists in the context of educational formats.

Herwig Scherabon and students at the HTW teach digital content production and develop and expand digital cultural mediation concepts together with movement researchers such as Tanja Saban and lecturers from the DOCK 11 environment. We see this combination of physical and technical knowledge as a unique selling point.

Herwig Scherabon and Maximilian Mauracher (Entkunstung) created a network of media artists with their exhibition, during the festival HUMANDROID.

DOCKdigital is deepening existing collaborations in the field of digital content production with Nico and the Navigators and is employing a transformation agent to drive digital transformation and organisational development projects together with the institutions' staff. As transformation agents, Warja Rybakova and Irina Shutova enrich numerous artists at the intersection of the body and digital art.

More labs, workshops and think-movement tanks are planned to share knowledge and publish it on the internet and social media.

More workshops, labs and think tanks will be offered in 2023.

AR-Loop Machine education is funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media in the NEUSTART KULTUR programme and the KULTUR.GEMEINSCHAFTEN funding programme of the Kulturstiftung der Länder.
