The REALTIME AFFAIRS event series is a regular meet-up for artists, designers and interested audiences who are passionate about audiovisual performances and immersive experiences. The aim is to present formats on the interdisciplinary border of performing arts, gaming and media art. The format initiated by DOCK 11 Digital, in collaboration with the Berlin University of the Arts, is intended to function as a regular meeting point, hosting discussion formats, try-out presentations and panels. Our goal is to create a vibrant space for sharing ideas, supporting each other and exploring novel approaches.
This time, we're excited to present an audiovisual event with guest artists! Join us for an engaging blend of creativity and technology.

On Machines Of Suspense - AV performance
Nastyy x Isak Han Scattered between endless gameplay, acoustic and gpu-computed noises, On Machines Of Suspense stretches its narrative across nostalgic enigmatic synths soldered with voices from a pre-AI era and abandoned Martian server rooms that suppress the light rays on the retina. Informed by the essay of Alenda Y. Chang "Playing Nature: Ecology in Video Games", the work employs game mechanics, spatial sound, SFX and VJing techniques to augment generative audio composition, the game environment becomes a soundscape to explore and soundscape gets x-rayed on the screen.
Sweet Water 3.0
Chun Li
Sweet Water 3.0 is an audiovisual work curated by Chun Li, consisting of live improvised music and real-time storytelling visuals.Drawing from profound myths and speculative futures, the music and visuals will subtly convey a story of contemporary humor through electronic instruments and transcribed reverbs. ChunLi - Amidst the cacophony of digital voices, her touch crafts tales that resonate with the finesse of advanced media technology and the delicate nuances of human connection. Her audiovisual works have been featured at Silent Green in Berlin, Digital Art Zurich in Zurich, Ars Electronica in Linz and Taipei Contemporary Culture Laboratory.
Hyperlinked Rituals
"Hyperlinked Rituals" is an artistic research project by Chrstian Schmidt and Jonny-Bix Bongers delving into performance methods within virtual environments. Utilizing the Unreal Engine plus some custom software, it crafts a 'playable' world where performers navigate and create live, spontaneous performances. This experimental approach combines open avatars, interactive spaces, and novel interface designs, focusing on the creation of a performative environment. "Hyperlinked Rituals" explores the evolving nature of digital visuality, diverging from past technologies in its adaptability and fluidity.
S4NTP - Absolute Relativity
Current research by The Society for Nontrivial Pursuits has been exploring the idea of collective performance by polyphonic influence: Multiple non/human sources play with a complex generative environment by sending relative changes to it; big gestures from each source become recognizable, slow gestures move the focus in the possibility space for everyone to explore together! NTMI (Non-trivial Musical Instrument environment) by Airborne Instruments (Alberto de Campo, Hannes Hoelzl, Isak Han) Kraken (multi-person interface) by Kuntay Seferoglu nUFO (intuitive interactor) by Isak Han flatcat (autonomous robot pet) by JetPack Lab and S4NTP members. https://s4ntp.org https://airborneinstruments.eu flatcat.berlin
VITRUVIAN SCROLL
The project Vitruvian Scroll combines ambient/ experimental music with audiovisual work. Here is your space for creative exchange, encounters and listening experience. Follow the audio-visual sequence and be carried away to a mysterious place where the world intertwines music. The recurring motif of the ornament (vitruvian scroll) establishes a space of continuity, while the sounds craft a realm that unfolds to unleash the imagination. When the waves along the shores of existence sing, they beckon to our shelter, where transformation fuels the heartbeat and togetherness becomes the choir.
