event-series for audiovisual performances and digital art
The REALTIME AFFAIRS event series is a regular meet-up for artists, designers and interested audiences who are passionate about audiovisual performances and immersive experiences. The aim is to present formats on the interdisciplinary border of performing arts, gaming and media art. The format initiated by DOCK 11 Digital, in collaboration with the Berlin University of the Arts, is intended to function as a regular meeting point, hosting discussion formats, try-out presentations and panels. Our goal is to create a vibrant space for sharing ideas, supporting each other and exploring novel approaches.
Participants:
Harriet Davey, luis august krawen
We are thrilled to announce the very first edition of REALTIME AFFAIRS, featuring the incredible talents of Harriet Davey and Luis August Krawen! Both visual artists are crafting digital wonders within performance spaces, mastering 3D Modeling, 3D Animation, and Game engines. Join us in welcoming them as they share insights into their work and dive deep into discussions about their projects in our upcoming meet-up.
Harriet Davey is a 3D Artist and Art Director based in Berlin. Through the exploration of gender non-conforming virtual avatars, Davey restores and reclaims the bodies extorted by a male dominated gaming industry. Obsessed with questioning what it means to be fluid and human in a digital world: their work examines and interrogates the ugly and the beautiful; the maximum and the minimum; the online and the offline.
Luis August Krawen, born in Bremen, grew up in Berlin and was a long-standing member of P14 at the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz. In addition to numerous youth theater plays, including "Lena & Leonce", which was invited to the Theatertreffen der Jugend, he was also involved in productions by René Pollesch and Silvia Rieger. In 2016, he began his studies at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Giessen, where he developed a strong interest in working with computer animation. As a freelance video artist, he develops projections & digital visual worlds for the stage, including for Lola Arias' "Futureland" at the Maxim Gorki Theater, René Pollesch's "Black Maria" at the DT and Studio Braun's "Coolhaze" at the Schauspielhaus Hamburg. With "Der Mensch erscheint im Holozän", directed by Alexander Giesche and awarded the 3-Sat Prize and the Nestroy Prize, he was invited to the 2020 Theatertreffen and, as part of the double bill "Pierrot Lunaire / La Voix Humaine", he staged his own film under the musical direction of Kent Nagano at the Hamburg State Opera. Since the 20/21 season, he has been Artist in Residence at the Münchner Kammerspiele, where he staged his stage debut with Nightcore in 2022.
