"Autonomous Avatar" explores the interface between humans and machines – dance, AI, and virtual realities.

Tobias Staab's piece is an immersive dance performance at the interface between humans and machines, where the boundaries between analog and virtual reality blur.

On a circular stage covered in flowers, two dancers take their first steps, fall and rise again, and struggle against the invisible forces of gravity. With the help of motion-capture technology, their movements come to life in the form of computer-generated avatars that move in luminous projections across the stage walls. The spectacle is accompanied by an AI-generated soundscape, with the distinctive voice of renowned actress Sandra Hüller floating through the space, drawing the audience deep into a hypnotic, almost surreal world.
