With TRÍPTICO – THREE SISTERS, choreographer and interdisciplinary artist Yeri Anarika presents a multi-channel video-dance installation exploring longing, migration, and the vision of a different life. The work will open on November 18, 2026, at the Mexican Embassy in Berlin.
Taking Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters as a starting point, Yeri Anarika translates the unfulfilled desires and fantasies of departure held by the three protagonists into a contemporary context—one where questions of origin, belonging, and self-determination are deeply intertwined with the experience of migration. Cuban dancers Jennifer Aput and Glenda Sánchez embody the characters of Olga, Masha, and Irina. Their own personal experiences inform this cinematic-choreographic work, in which individual biographies, movement, and fictional narrative converge.
TRÍPTICO – THREE SISTERS is part of the project series Three Sisters – Physical Immersive, developed within the framework of DOCKdigital. Following presentations at DOCK 11 in Berlin in 2022 and at fabrik Potsdam in 2023, the work is now being shown in a new institutional and cultural setting. The exhibition at the Mexican Embassy expands the dialogue between contemporary dance, film, and immersive storytelling by incorporating perspectives on migration and transcultural identity.
The vernissage will be accompanied by a participatory intervention titled Happiness Elsewhere (Glück anderswo). Through two specific questions, the audience is invited to reflect on their own conception of happiness and the pursuit of a better life in another place. The responses are collected on colored cards and brought together into a collective composition.
A live dance solo by Yeri Anarika concludes the opening, transitioning the cinematic imagery back into the immediate presence of the body.
