In this co-facilitated workshop, Natsuko Kono (JP/DE) & WilL Dickie (UK) draw on over 25 years of shared experience in performer training practices. After meeting through Butoh in London in 2006, their artistic paths have continued to grow from a commitment to performance work grounded in deep body practices. Both have danced many times for Tadashi Endo and, since 2022, have been developing their own teaching approach inspired by his legacy.

Their practice incorporates ongoing experience in choreography, theatre, martial arts, Suzuki training, reflexology and the Feldenkrais Method. Working across these fields has enabled them to keep their connection to Butoh alive, while deepening their understanding of the body, presence and liveness in performance. They believe Butoh’s approach can enrich creativity for artists and movers of all kinds, regardless of discipline or experience.

In this workshop, Natsuko and WilL invite participants to go deep through embodied practice, cultivating sensitivity, presence and access to hidden inner resources. Together they will explore states of attention that support powerful, committed and visceral performance. The workshop welcomes participants from a wide range of backgrounds
and levels of experience, including theatre, dance, movement, martial arts, somatic practices, or those simply curious to explore the body as a creative and expressive medium.

All welcome
The workshop will be given in English.
