This class focuses on the exploration of floor work and the ability to create a strong connection to the floor through the use of various elements such as floor exercises, phrases, spirals, levers, clear directions, and handstands.
This class is divided into four parts, each with its own focus. We start with a warm-up to improve strength, flexibility, and balance. These basic elements prepare us for the second part, where we learn acrobatic tricks as we move across the studio. We then test these skills by learning a choreography that combines all the elements from the previous parts. The class ends with stretching exercises and a meditative cool down to relax.
The aim of the class is to master basic floor patterns and gradually work towards more advanced patterns, including floor acrobatics and handstands, as well as expand movement vocabulary and gain confidence in navigating the dance floor. We will focus on two areas: the relationship between the body and gravity and the exploration of the different levels of contemporary dance. We will seamlessly transition between higher and lower levels of space and explore different textures and dynamics such as rolling, sliding, and crawling.
