A solo exhibition by @allapopp

When Body Is Not Enough

Opening June 27, 7PM at SOMA Art Berlin
Soma, Eylauer Str. 9, 10965 Berlin

In When Body Is Not Enough, allapopp traces over a decade of self-digitalization — from voice cloning (2014) to genAI avatars, emotional algorithms, and interactive digital persona (2024). A personal, philosophical, and feminist investigation into how bodies shift at the intersection of technology, culture, and power.

Initially driven by the promise of technological immortality — rooted in Soviet Cosmism and Western transhumanism — the exhibition now questions the religious, patriarchal, capitalist, and imperial logics behind self-optimization.

What kind of futures do these logics sustain? What is lost in the process? What should come next?

The exhibition brings together individual and collaborative works developed over the past ten years — spanning video, interactive game environments, installation, sound resin sculpture, and print on mixed media.

At the opening: How to Bury Your Digital Twin — a new audiovisual ritual confronting the fantasy of duplicating the self through tech. If a twin can be made, can it also be laid to rest?

When Body Is Not Enough is part of the Becoming Future series — a two-year exhibition and public program highlighting women artists working with emerging technologies to explore alternative narratives of coexistence, representation, and technological futures.
