The Blue is a collaborative piece in which Abigail Sanders interprets the humpback whale song on the French horn, accompanied by Nadja Dances (Haas), whose movements reflect the ocean's serene and powerful rhythms. The work is inspired by marine biologist Roger Payne’s research on whale communication and Wallace J. Nichols’ *Blue Mind*, which explores the human connection to water. The project is captured on film by Rolando Lafayer, with support from Francesca Furgeson, and features digital lighting by Warja Rybakova. Together, these elements create a sensory exploration of sound, movement, and the ocean’s profound presence.
This event also celebrates the release of Abigail Sanders’ *Whale Song* recording.
