My Virtual Bodies is a performance workshop that uses virtual reality as a metaphorical lens to activate physical exploration. It serves as both an experiment and a platform for unlocking creative potential and transcending the limitations of reality. By embracing the concept of the Avatar as an extension of oneself and virtual reality as a metaphorical tool, My Virtual Bodies encourages participants to push the boundaries of imagination and create unconventional virtual experiences within the tangible world, thus enhancing self expression. Through a deep exploration of perception, senses, and imagination, the workshop explores techniques to track bodily movement and engage with fluid states and expanded physicalities. By using virtual formats as creative guidelines that amplify stimuli, participants gain the power to construct alternative experiences, immersive societies, playgrounds, and futuristic ecosystems that celebrate diversity and embrace the weird and queer. The workshop will start with a guided class using release technique principles to activate and reconnect with our physical body. We will prepare and explore our avatar body, examine how we move and what moves us. Various breathing techniques will serve as a portal to open our awareness, embrace playfulness, and prepare ourselves to travel through time and space.

Maya Weinberg is a teacher, choreographer, dance dramaturg and a member of the dance collective B A G, based in Berlin since 2013. Maya started their artistic journey as a dancer in Tel-Aviv at Yasmeen Godder Dance Company, studied at Kibbutzim College of Education, Technology and Art and became a release technique and improvisation teacher (School Of Visual Theater Jerusalem, Yasmeen Godder, HZT Berlin ). As an independent choreographer Maya created several works, often collaborating with dance, visual-art and performance artists. In their artistic work they aim at blurring the hierarchies and boundaries between different mediums and capture the tragic-comic in between spaces. They understand the craft of art/performance making as a practice of SPELL - casting of spells, effect and affect AND SPELLING - a linguistic communication system that produces meaning / shapes reality. The work 'Missspelled', commissioned by HAZIRA Performance Art Arena, Jerusalem premiered at Leo Model Center and presented at ausland berlin and Dock 11. Recently Maya is working as a dance dramaturg for several choreographers, as curator and dramaturg at ada studio (Nah Dran Extended 2020-2022) and is dedicated to creating platforms which foster collaboration and new expressions of dance as a way of knowing oneself and of community preparing for the future.
