Dive into the field of Live Visual performance and develop your own project in combination with sound, space and/or movement.
The 5 days- Masterclass combines theory, technique and hands-on applications:
• Theory: historical overview of Live Visual performance and the archeology of the VJ practices in the visual
arts, film and music; we will also examine Live Visual performance as a practice of memory and will consider
analogies between montage processes (film, performance, theater) and current models of thinking in terms
of storytellings and ecosystems.
• Full Resolume Arena Software training including videomapping
• Live Visuals technical workflow, including video codecs, hardware devices and videoprojectors
• Live Experiments & Improvisation sessions
Next to individual creation time, the Masterclass values teamwork and collectives practices; group sharing of the creative process will be encouraged throughout the week. In addition, we'll be doing a daily Qi Gong and Tai Ji Chuan warm up, exploring movement, stillness and fluidity in relation to the Live Visual artist's practice, becoming aware of the presence of body and mind when performing on stage.
The public presentation on Friday evening is an invitation to share our creation process with the audience, without pressure. We will design the space and the event together.
Requirements:
• The Masterclass is open to artists, musicians, perfomers - professionnal or students.
• Beginners and visual lovers are welcome.
• The Masterclass aims to create a safe creation space to every participant; please note that sexism, racism
and any form of discrimination will not be tolerated.
Please bring:
• your creative mind, your pictures (can it be videos, photos, drawings, etc.).
• a laptop (make space in your hardrive beforehand!) and a mouse
• a notebook, some pens, and any other creative and/or technical tool you would like to use during the
week.
Please wear comfortable clothes for the warm up part.
The space is equipped with a kitchen and a fridge, so you can store your snacks and drinks.
The Masterclass is officially supported by Resolume Software; the participants will receive a temporary Resolume Arena serial number for the week.
Number of participants: from 6 to 12 max.
Language: the Masterclass will be mainly held in English and German; French is also possible.
