4-day long Intensive will be led by Attakkalari’s Artistic Director Jayachandran Palazhy and assisted by Rehearsal director Hemabharathy Palani from Bangalore (IND).
Drawing from Attakkalari’s seminal archival project - NAGARIKA (an interactive archive on Indian physical and performance disciplines), sessions in this 4-day intensive workshop will begin with a warmup starting with breathing, cardio-vascular movements and Yoga based stretches. This will be followed by Introduction to Indian Martial Art form Kalarippayattu and Classical Dance Bharatanatyam, particularly looking at the concepts of body and principles of movement embedded in these movement disciplines. The participants then will be led through Attakkalari Movement Technique, a unique contemporary movement language inspired, informed, and influenced by the concepts and principles of Indian physical and performance disciplines. The day will culminate with a relaxation and cooling down routine.
