Contemporary Dance for Children Ages 3 and Up

This course is designed for children ages 3 and up and offers an age-appropriate introduction to dance and movement. In a playful setting, basic movement patterns are explored and connected. Through simple prompts, music, and movement games, children discover their bodies, space, and the joy of moving together in a group. The course promotes motor skills, body awareness, expression, and social skills. The focus is on the joy of movement and free exploration. No prior experience is necessary. The course invites participants to experience movement as creative expression and to gain their first dance experiences.

Contemporary Dance for Children Ages 9–12

In this course, children aged 9 to 12 discover contemporary dance in a playful way. Through creative movement exercises, improvisation games, and short choreographies, body awareness, coordination, strength, and imagination are fostered. The children learn basic elements of contemporary dance and develop a love of movement, expression, and dancing together. The classes foster self-confidence, concentration, and mindful interaction. The course is open to children with and without prior dance experience.

Contemporary Dance for Ages 13 and Up

This course is for young people aged 13 and up who want to discover or deepen their understanding of contemporary dance as a physical and creative form of expression. The classes focus on contemporary technique, floor work, improvisation, movement quality, strength, and coordination. Together, we will develop movement sequences and short choreographic routines, while still allowing space for individual ideas and expression. The course promotes body awareness, concentration, and self-confidence and is open to participants with and without prior experience.

Klara Oehler is a dancer, choreographer, and dance educator based in Berlin. She completed her training at the State Ballet School Berlin and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Music and Performing Arts, where she studied under the direction of Dieter Heitkamp. She works within the independent dance scene as well as in international projects. Her artistic practice includes choreographic work and collaborative, interdisciplinary formats, including collaborations with the National Museums in Berlin. She is also a founder of the Sphere Collective. Since 2023, Klara Oehler has been working as a dance educator at tanzzeit e.V., focusing on cultural education projects with children and young people. She understands dance as a space for expression, exchange, and social participation.
