Bio
Esther Cowens, based in Berlin, is a passionate and experienced dancer and teacher with a rich background in the performing arts. She earned her BFA with Honors from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where she honed her skills in Horton, Taylor, and Graham techniques, as well as studying at PHILADANCO Dance Company. Esther was both a student and a demonstrator under the guidance of Master Graham teacher, Pat Thomas. She also participated in the prestigious Graham Teacher Intensive workshops at the Graham School in New York and online, further refining her craft.
Over the years, Esther has collaborated with several Berlin-based choreographers, including Heidi Weiss, Jennifer Mann, and Alexander Archour, and worked with renowned Philadelphia-based dance companies like Group Motion, Subcircle, and Rennie Harris Pure Movement.Her professional journey also includes performing as an original cast member in the Disney production of The Lion Kingin Hamburg, Germany, and dancing in the film Across the Universe. Additionally, Esther has toured as a singer with artists such as Jan Delay, Mando Diao, and Sarah Conner, and contributed her talents to various TV productions.With over 20 years of teaching experience in Berlin, Esther shares her love for dance with students at DANCEWORKS Berlin, where she is a resident faculty member, and as a freelance teacher for the UDK Musical Theatre department.
