Dor Mamalia

Ballet for professionals

Ballet doesn’t have to feel rigid.
This class blends technique with curiosity, building strength, balance, and flow while allowing movement to stay alive. Musicality guides the work, shaping how each step breathes, how lines carry energy, and how precision can feel light and even playful. We explore not only form but also the sensations and dynamics behind it, giving dancers room to challenge their bodies while enjoying the poetry of motion and the joy of dancing.

Dor started his professional dance career at the age of 18 with Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, followed by Vertigo Dance Company and the Israeli Opera House, where he performed pieces by William Forsythe, Jacopo Godani, Emmanuel Gat, Marco Goecke, and others. He then joined Tanz Luzerner Theatre, where he worked with Georg Reichel, Brian Arias, Jo Strømgren, and Po-cheng Sai.
Dor is the recipient of the Israeli Ministry of Culture's "Best Cast Performance" award under Vertigo Dance Company in 2013 and 2014 with Idan Sharabi & Dancers Group. He also earned the "Audience Award" at the Copenhagen Choreography Dance Competition in 2014. Since 2012, Dor has directed rehearsals, created choreographies, and taught globally at institutions like Netherlands Dance Theatre 2, The Royal Danish Ballet, Danish Dance Theatre, Tanz Theatre Braunschweig, The Israeli Ballet, Taller Coreográfico de la UNAM in Mexico City, and Rostock State Theatre.
In 2018, Dor co-founded Human Fields Dance Collective in Berlin with Polish artist Dariusz Nowak, showcasing their work at notable festivals and theaters worldwide, such as SIDance in Seoul, Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London, Korzo Theatre in The Hague, and more. Since its founding, the group has performed Mamalia and Nowak’s creations at festivals across Europe, the Middle East, Central and North America, and Asia.
Dor also teaches morning classes in professional dance companies and academies with BA and MA programs, as well as professional dance programs like Zürcher Hochschule der Künste, CND Lyon, DAF in Rome, B12 Festival in Berlin, TanzFabrik Berlin, and many more
