PEARLS 22
POOL 22 presents a selection of international dance film productions and is a meeting place for creative minds involved in the fields of dance, film, art, and fashion. The festival focuses on films that create independent film choreographies involving a close interplay of cinematic and dance movement. From over 1000 film submissions, the POOL 22 curatorial team compiled a selection of films for three evening programs on October 12, 14 and 15 15. The selected films - the PEARLS 22 - reflect the rich diversity of this inspiring genre. As part of the launch of POOL’s online film catalog, which brings together the films screened since the festival's founding in 2007, selected films from past festival editions will also be presented.
POOL Shine - New York Traces
In addition to contemporary dance films, the festival will screen works by filmmakers Dave Gearey and Phill Niblock, made in collaboration with choreographer and dancer Dana Reitz in the 1970s as part of the POOL Shine - New York Traces format on October 13, 2022. The films are digitized or re-edited especially for the festival, and some of them will be shown in Europe for the very first time. The screening is followed by an artist talk with Dave Gearey, and filmmaker and choreographer Yoshiko Chuma, moderated by Peter Pleyer.
After the screenings, the festival invites guests to an informal get-together and exchange with the artists.
