dranbleiben is an accompanying format of the soundance festival berlin and is dedicated to the interaction between dance and music.
The workshop music and movement - interactions and similarities, led by cellist Ulrike Brand, provides access to improvisation and begins with the lecture You won`t be judged. A joint performance with the dancer-choreographer Valentina Bordenave will conclude the encounter.

You may join as a mover, singer or with your instrument. We will experience simple and basic exercises and games shifting between sound and movement which may flow into free improvisation. You will access through an intermittent talk about how to approach and develop free improvisation. As a conclusion there will be a short performance showing by dancer Valentina Bordenave and cellist Ulrike Brand.
Participation is open to all interested, no professional background is required.
The participation takes place under consideration of the currently valid hygiene framework concept of the city of Berlin and the current hygiene protection measures of the DOCK11/EDEN studios.
A mouth nose protection mask (medical or FFP2) must be brought. Further adjustments due to the pandemic situation are possible. Attendance is free of charge. The number of participants is limited.

About
Cellist Ulrike Brand performs at international festivals for experimental music. She is particularly interested in cross-border projects in the fields of visual arts, language, dance and performance. She develops her own pieces in the intermediate area of improvised and notated music, writes texts and essays, and gives guest lectures at home and abroad. From 1987 to 1997 she was artistic director of Quaderni Perugini di Musica Contemporanea in Perugia, Italy. In 2015, she received the Berlin Senate's Work and Research Fellowship. In 2016 she was a scholarship holder of the Ministry of Science, Education and Culture Brandenburg at the Künstlerhaus Schloss Wiepersdorf.
Since 2018 she is a lecturer for improvisation at the Berlin University of the Arts.
