The notion of “not moving, but being moved” is central to Butoh.
In this workshop, we explore this idea through various exercises in which the dancers
are intentionally following, and not driving or controlling the body. It requires alertness
without rigid tension in the body so that the performer is soft on the outside but firm
on the inside.
“Being moved” cultivates receptivity in the performer.
Open level
The workshop will be given in English and translated in German and French if needed.
