The class focuses on a specific approach to floor work which results from my own research. Making special emphasis on how weight is used, and on how we organize ourselves efficiently to come up and down; participants are provided with different strategies to access the horizontal plane. These tools translate that information congruently into the verticality, and this congruence presents a development throughout the class and throughout the week. Exercises highlight a vocabulary that benefits from using our spiraled anatomy as a tool for working with gravity, helping us find strength and softness simultaneously. From a general perspective, my approach aims to support dancers to create a receptive and somatically available body, capable of moving voluminously and with technical virtuosity.

Format: The class begins with exercises focused on preparing the body and mind for physical work. Warming up consists of diverse tasks to promote blood circulation, global mobilization, and the strengthening of core muscles. Physically engaging somatic practices and conditioning are prioritized in this section. As the class develops, we will dive into more complex floor and standing phrases. Both forms are connected and have a somatic approach to movement production and skill development. Pedagogically, I'm interested in providing participants with a safe environment to find new learning strategies for their own dance practice. Opening up the space for reflection: How can we bring to awareness our learning process? What do we choose to exercise in each exercise?
